Summer Maintenance Tips for Home Plumbing

Once the summer months are in full swing in Fort Worth, TX, it is easy to forget about home maintenance.  Getting home maintenance done during the long days of summer is easier than getting it done during the stormy or cooler months of winter.

Check for Leaks

Check your pipes, sprinkler system, and faucets for leaks.  Leaks or drips that seem small can get much bigger in a short amount of time and damage your home.  Also, if you have a leak, it will raise your water bill, which will already be higher in the summertime.

Check Your Hot Water Heater

Consider turning down the temperature on your hot water heater.  If your water heater works to keep the water at a certain temperature and you don’t need the water that hot during the summers in Fort Worth, it is more energy-efficient to turn it down.

Clean Your Gutters

If you forget to get your gutters cleaned in the spring, all it takes is one big rainstorm to remind you.  Getting your gutters cleaned will help you protect your home from water damage.  You may also have fewer issues with bugs if you have your gutters cleaned!

Schedule Your Annual Inspections

Plumbing and HVAC inspections are important because of the things you can’t inspect yourself.  Having pipes cleaned and inspected for the rest of the seasons in Fort Worth will help ensure that your home is well prepared for anything that happens the rest of the year with your plumbing.

Your air conditioner, heating, and ventilation should have a summer inspection.  It is important to make sure that your cooling and heating is working properly for good air quality.  Your ductwork may need to be checked or sealed to ensure that you breathe healthy air all year.  Having an inspection will help you catch minor issues and have them repaired before they turn into large problems.
