In fact, drain clogs are the number one plumbing issue that occurs in most households. because your drains are used on a daily basis by all of the members of your household they can easily fall victim to the Daily wear and tear.
Luckily, your plumbing system will give clear signs if there is something going on that needs professional attention. And, since you use your drain system on a daily basis, you should be able to recognize these signs as an indication that it’s time to contact a professional plumber:
Foul smells. In your sinks, there is a curve to the plumbing pipe that is underneath the cupboard. This curve is designed to trap water, which buffers the sewer smells from coming up and out of the drains. If you have a sink that is not used often, and it starts to smell, it is possible that the water in the curve has evaporated. Or, it could be a sign that something is going on with your main sewer line. Turn the water on for a few minutes and see if that makes the smell go away. If not, then you need to call a plumber.
Repeated clogs. If you have a fixture that clogs all the time – there is something going on in the main plumbing pipe. This could be a large clog that keeps getting shifted but, never really cleared. Or, it could be something bigger like tree roots in the sewer line. Clogs are a regular part of the wear and tear on your drain system – but, they should not happen all the time in one fixture. Make sure to have this situation investigated.
Many clogs. If you have several fixtures develop a clog all at the same time, then you probably have something going on in your sewer line. In fact, it is nearly impossible for your plumbing system to work properly when the sewer line is malfunctioning. Make sure to have this situation investigated by a professional.
